Bless Your Heart Greetings

Tuesday at 6:30PM in the Green Room of the Family Life Center, Kay Grissom and friends will be meeting to breathe life, love and words of prayer into paper and flowers and glue making greeting cards that will be sent all over the world with encouragement to those who are spreading the gospel abroad.

But now YOU can make a difference in another way. The Bless Your Heart Greeting Cards are now available for you with a suggested donation as well. And you can help in another way. Project Destiny will be the benefactor of the donations of the greeting cards. So when you need a birthday card for that beautiful sister or friend or even that man in your life, you can get a card from Women's Ministries and know that Project Destiny will be receiving the money from the donation. This is just another way of supporting Home of Hope and the other ministries that Project Destiny supports.

So next time you need a card, pick up a Bless Your Heart Greeting Card and make a donation to PROJECT DESTINY.

We've had some requests for the recipes from the Friendship Dinner. So we thought we would just add them here for for you to enjoy. Thanks to John Nevitt for letting us use his recipe.

John Nevitt’s Chicken Salad

Salt, pepper, & Tony Chacheres Creole seasoning to taste. Serves 6-8

Wacky Mac Pasta Salad

Home of Hope

Sandra Palmer added this interview to the Home of Hope website. Please go and take a look at it.

"Please go to www.homeofhopetexas.com and click on the "in the news" tab and watch the new report from our local news last night.
Be sure you watch until the end and listen to the last few sentences."

Have your cake and eat it too!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time
of the day or night!

Multi-colored Love

By Charlotte Holt
Everyone loved my mother. At times, I’ll have to admit; I wondered why. I watched as she tended to the needs of those around her. She had a kind word of encouragement to whomever she encountered, especially if they suffered. She liked to advise those in any trouble. As a teenager, I didn’t think much of her advice, but I learned of her wisdom as I grew older.

Her life wasn’t easy. She made plenty of sacrifices for her family. She rose early every morning and put a full breakfast on the table before rushing off to work all day in the school cafeteria. Her biscuits and gravy made me smile. The piping hot yeast rolls she cooked at school brought joy to all. My mother cooked at home and at her job. I’ve heard people say, “My mother was the best cook ever.” Well, I guarantee you; mine outranked them all.

Not only did she put delicious food on the table, but she ministered to every student she served when they came through the line. She knew each one by name, what they liked to eat, and something about them. When she found out their favorite food, she piled extra amounts on their trays. Each felt special because of my mother’s love.

My mother got up early to tend to our needs, and she stayed up late. One summer, in my teen years, I learned further about her love for me. I grew up wearing homemade feed sack dresses and hand-me-downs. Our meager budget didn’t allow store bought things often. The night before I left for church camp, mother worked until after midnight sewing me a dress with purchased material. The new garment consisted of every color of the rainbow. I proudly wore it all week.

Now, I understood fully why everyone loved my mother. She gave endlessly of herself to bring happiness to others. She made all feel loved, including me. Her hard work and kindness compares to the Proverbs 31 Woman. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed … Proverbs 31:27-28 (NKJV)
I still smile when I think of the love my Mama sewed into my dress. I relate to Joseph when Jacob stitched him his special coat of many colors. (Genesis 37:3)
